Yeah, i remember when i was younger when i actually fished Busse with my dad. We lived in Berwyn at the time and fished there more than i have now that i live in Winfield...go figure, but somehow someway, my dad pulled in a super FAT 4lberish largie on a freekin night crawler harness with a 6in creme worm right over that gravel flat in the south pool. I got one the same size on a spinnerbug north of higgins road, we had our own pond prowler type boat and i wanted to throw at all those trees and stumps up there, whuddayah know, there was a bass on one of em.
That experience and from what i heard there's always been very decent pike and bass populations in that lake, but i dont know anything about it from recent years.
But with muskies now, who knows, i just hope they dont flood ALL of Dup and Cook Co lakes with muskies cuz all the cheeze-heads wont travel to wisconsin OR stay in wisconsin where obviously muskies thrive...hmm...i love muskies and all, but i mean, its kinda hard to have a GOOD musky fishery in the forest preserve lakes as small as they are, AND still have good bass fishing. I dont mind traveling somewhere to specifically fish for muskies, in state or out of state, but ALOT of small muskies and pike and not too many bass is NOT appealing at all...
The Dup lakes, i believe, have obviously great bass potential, but I just hope thats it for the musky stocking...
