This Past Weekend On the Fox Chain

Ok....So I had a tough weekend on the fishing tournaments on the Fox Chain Of Lakes in Northern Illinois this past weekend. Although we caught the crap out of the bass while prefishing a few days prior to the tournaments, we still couldn't get them when it counted.

I did manage to catch this Huge Northern Pike on the 4th cast last Saturday! It truly was awesome! http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm123/tomc28/2008-07-1206-18-55_0013.jpg

It was about 15lbs..... Northern Pike this large are UNCOMMON on the North End of the Fox Chain....as MUSKIE rule those waters. This was a beautiful fish----and considering the situation, quantity of people fishing, and that it was a Pike---this was a fish of a lifetime...for sure.

That is one mean looking pike! last time I was at eagle lake I caught one like that on a frog. Was that caught on saturday?:cool

Hey bud...I'm assuming you asked about Saturday cause I had my raingear on:-) YES.... in the first 10 minutes of the tournament....BAM!!! 5' from the boat. I had thought I had a MUSKIE....but it was a Pike. I'm sure I will find out more when guys start seeing this picture...but I believe a Pike this size on the Chain is very very Rare. Muskies aren't---but I believe Pike are.


Eagle---well....that sucks when they take those big boyz out! I didn't know they had big pike also:confused:

That Pike looks bigger than the one I posted recently on the U S Anglers Choice web site.

A couple of more bites like that and you guys might even get me to fish the Chain.

Hey bud....yours looks much THICKER---FATTER---- Mine looks longer....so I would assume yours would weigh more :)

Your fish looks like it was caught up north....like in Northern Minnesota or Canada??? Where did you catch it? Looks awesome!

Anyway.....the coolest part of catching it....was to grab it under the gill....and slowly pull it out of the water as Al was watching:-) Very cool... Maybe he ate all my bass I found a few days prior:confused:

Maybe he ate all my bass....Thats funny i dont care you ya are! ANyhow, i've never seen a pike that big on the chain and i would definantly say any pike is a rarity out there. Too bad, with fish as big as that out there, you'd figure there would be tons of em!
