well fished all weekend and fishing was good but tough all at the same time.. we fished flooded brush and weeds to catch our fish flipping and with spinnerbaits.. we took i think 9th place with 17.55lbs and my dad won big bass with a hawg that weighed 6.22lbs... spring lake is by far the place to be... water temp was 53-57... winning weight was 20.06lbs... good luck....

i think the toad that dad caught was fanning a bed.. the bottom part of her tail was a little bit beat up and bloody... with the falling water she was sitting where she would have spawned... there were some others that thought they had caught and seen some spawning fish... this weekend will be game on over at the river.... the rest of the fish we caught were just roaming prespawn male and females...

wow was the river tough this weekend.. saturday fished all day with 8 bites all day... sunday only had 5 keeper bites and landed all of them and ended up with 14.17 lbs... that was good enough to cash a 4th place check and move us up to 3rd overall in aoy race... 17.5 lbs won... water is dirty and is falling... we caught all of our fish on frogs from spring lake all the way down by the dam... good luck all...

Sounds like some postspawn fishin huh? A lot of skinny
females? Did you see any shad spawning/rolling around?
Good to hear you landed all those that bit!

i guess so... yea the fish we had were post spawn females and no i did not see any shad at all... the mayflies are starting to hatch over there which means current fishing should be awesome but the water is way to dirty and moving to fast....

Congrats on those fish! Landing every frog bite is so key in these tournaments..actually.....batting 100 on frog bites???? WOW:)
Personally, I fished a tourny this past weekend.....I had the 2nd place fish on my freaking line. Kinda sick to my stomach about it....I broke off at the boat on a 3lb fish. Lost another 2.5 1/2 way to the boat, and lost a third at the net. I want to jump in the water myself after that last one.
What frogs do you suggest? I want in on your batting percentage!

i use snag proof bobbys perfect frogs... they are hands down my favorite... i have tried spro, and sumo, and tru tungsten, and other kinds but my hook up ratio is not even close to the snag proof... that being said you tend to go threw more frogs cause they rip in the front....

65lb power pro with a heavy action 7.5ft bionic blade bass pro rod... i use a wide spool president reel to get the farthest cast i can...

if you want to get out farther why don't you go with something a little lighter for ex: 40 lb powerpro. That's all I use....

i use to use 40 and 50 till i started breaking fish off and it cost me some big time money... now i use 65 because i know that when i set the hook the big girls are coming to the boat....
