We all got there around 7:30 am for the meeting and we knew that this year was going to be an interesting one due to the fact of kids being allowed access to the entire lake a week before opening day, and also no adults allowed to fish.!!
In the morning we were greeted by temps below freezing ranging in the low to mid 20's with winds already picking up from the east.
all of us that volunteered were pretty much in charge of giving out free bait consisting of night crawlers, wax worms, and new to this year powerbait dough bait.
Here's tracy smiling for the camera!!

Don labrose was there giving out plenty of rod and reel combo's to the kids that didn't have setups to use.

Also new to this year was a representative from cabelas that came out, also a girl from the daily herald, and this time the forest preserve had a booth to promote lakes in the area.

It was great to see all the kids smiling after another successfull even though it was a lot colder than last years event.

In the morning tommy and his kids' bite was quite slow, alex had told me some nice catches were caught on the wind protected side of the lake so I headed over there to investigate. People were catching trout on everything here, but with the most dominant bait being the powerbait dough.

There were also a lot of bigger trout caught here. From what I heard the largest rainbow that was caught was 24 inches long !!!
