Hey all,
Went out to a Dupage Forest Preserve, and caught this BEAST. I was only there for not more than 3 minutes when I caught her. I ended up only catching this one. I was there for about an hour or so.
So, how did I catch her? First I threw out my frog, saw a blow up but missed her. Honestly though, I think she just swatted at it. So, I pick up my other rod, which has a 1/4 ounce bullet weight, and a green pumpkin 4"craw on it. I cast past her, thinking that she's still in that spot. Nope.....she's CLOSER! As I'm reeling in ever so slowly, and pausing between retrieve's, she NAIL'S me!!!! I wasn't about to let her go. I literally dove down to the shore to pick her up out of the water. That's why in the pic, my grey colored pants have rocky dust all over them. Even though, it was a short fight, it was a fight none-the-less!! The first thing running threw my mind is: holy $$$$, I just caught a 4 or 5lb'er. And I was right. I weighed her up, and she was 4 pounds and 2 ounces!!
