Continued my weekend fishin' with the boyz. Took out the Champion today out of Waukegan, Il. Was at the SALMON STOP at 4:30am, got the starting advise..... begin in 60' with spoons and flies/dodgers. Also picked up the LUCKY spoon:)
The story behind the LUCKY spoon is.....each year, I get out of Waukegan 1 or 2 times with my Bass Boat trolling for Salmon. And every year for the past 10 years....the guy over at SALMON STOP sets me up with the hot color. I spend around $30.00 on stuff....and then I end-up breaking off that exact lure:o Not this year.....
Our morning was very very slow. We trolled for 3.5 hours and rarely saw "any" bait fish. We didn't see any "arches". We were going to spend another hour---so we went deeper. Moved from 65 to 85 feet. And WOW! The depth finder lit up! And BAM....we caught a small Brown. We set-the lines again....made a big circle and BAM.....we got a nice 13.5lb King. I was going to give the rod to Dylan....but wholly  did that fish fight!!! He would've been water skiing for sure! Makes me wonder why I ever fish for bass:crazy: That fish screamed right at the boat....I've never in my life reeled in so fast:) Anthony pulled in a few lines, then ....netted it like a true champ! We then set the lines again...and were going back to that school...but the waves went NUTZ on us! You can see in the short King Video...the waves were only like one footers...then withing 15 minutes....3.5 footers. We had them comin' over the front and side...so both my boyz were crying...and we went in. But, not before throwing a few times for PERCH (got just a couple). As on Lake Michigan for the month of JULY, only kids can catch em'. Dylan saw his first GOBY, and as you can see bye this picture...he was really confused by this creature:puke:

Anyway----we had a GREAT TIME. Nice fresh salmon for myself and the neighbors. Great experience for the boyz.....Memories can't be taken away.
