Congrats to Rick Frye and Jeff Pulliam on their win on the FOX CHAIN! Over 14lbs with a 5 fish limit. Great Job boyz!
Pat Koffler and Jim Templin caught the hog of the day over 4.5lbs. Great Job! You guys have been kickin it!
Dock Talk:
Chris Groh and Jimmy Schmehl were kickin' themselves because the damn "MAGIC BUSH BASS" didn't bite! That damn Bass was "INSIDE" the magic bush. He bit in practice......but he wouldn't have anything to do with their baits today. :D
Heard that huge fish Koffler and Templin caught was actually the male...and the female couldn't be found today....she was said to be over 5.5lbs!
One comment about RICK FRYE
...most of you know him as a great fisherman...and ole JOEYYYY'S partner :) Well....lets add Great Guy, Class Act  and a Incredible Mechanic to that list. A few weeks back, I had blown my lower unit on my Merc 175 XS in the Federation Tourny...well....Rick was at the weigh in...he didn't waste any time on helping me out! Within 45 minutes he had it diagnosed....and the lower unit off of the boat. He ordered it on Monday, and installed it for me within a week! Guys---boat repair is running 5-8 weeks right now! Merc lower units can run the same! Rick is about helping people---and this--I appreciate. Thank you.
The Anglers Choice Tournaments
on the Chain are run by Chuck Ramke. He truly does a great job. This tournament had 29 Boats in it. The weights are awesome! These tournament truly give you a great guage of how the fishing is on the chain at any given time. To cash a check you had to have over 12lbs with 5 fish. Doesn't sound like a lot.....but it was tough today to find those big fish...unless of course you caught a bunch of bedding / staging fish--as many of the leaders did.
A LITTLE ABOUT JIMMY AND I'S DAY
We fished 5 minutes from the launch ramp for the first 2 hours and caught our limit of 5 fish (all males less than 1.75lbs) prior to chasing around bedding fish to find our goal of 3 big uns'
We planned on getting a few of these big uns' on a spot where we knew they'd be, as they are normally ignored....we pulled up and saw one of our buddies kickin' their butts:p Soooo....we fished around--caught a few 14" fish..and we went after some bedding fish I had caught with my kids last week (hoping they were still there).
Sure enough....one which was 2.5lbs was sitting high on his bed....I flipped my jig on him and he grabbed it and swam--I set on him---but he never had the hook! We waited 5 minutes and I flipped back on the bed---he grabbed it again----and again I lost him! We waited 20 more minutes....and he wouldn't bite again! He is a biatch!
We chased to another area...flipped that jig under a dock where my Son caught a 3lber...SURE ENOUGH...Bingo...got that fish.
Then we were running out of time and needed to get the other 2 big uns....went back to within 10 min of launch...and Jimmy got a 1.8 lber on a freakin' buzz bait!
Not enough weight to cash...but we had fun catching 12 keepers all over the place---just didn't get the last 2 we hoped for:-( Better luck next-time. We had like 10.35lbs.
