I fished with Tommy for about 2 hours this morning and its was COLD and windy. We each caught 1 and lost 1. Had a good time and caught my first fish on a rat'l trap! Tommy caught his first fish of the year also! Here is Tommy's View of the events:cool:

On Friday evening, I got together with a few fellow FTN guys (Max and Alex) and we fished a little quarry throwing Ratl Traps, Senkos, Jerk Baits and Carolina Riggin' Craws, with only one-hit, but no fish caught.
So...I got the ITCH!! Except, Tommy doesn't like to be collllld:puke: And Tommy doesn't shore fish (Alex and Max are right-on;)
A phone call from Catfish (JEFF)---made me start thinkin' what the heck:D
I've read and learned so much from the guys on this site...that I could just try their techniques.....they are TRULY Professional Shore Fishermen!! I mean....these guys fish like EVERY DAY from shore....and as much as I personally know about fishing....this shore fishing thing is a little different. And I would just give their shore techniques a shot.
The phone call came at 8:30am on Saturday. It was 35 degrees and strong winds expected....my initial thought was NO WAY:eek: But within the hour, I had dressed super duper warm and had met Jeff at the water.
The pond was a typical development pond with a rocky shoreline, water temp at around 49 degrees. Minnows / Bluegills movin' on the shore. I had convinced Jeff to throw a Ratl Trap--which he purchased the day prior. Silver with blue top. I immediately started throwing a Ratl Trap also (secret color). Within 10 minutes Jeff hooked into his FIRST RATL' TRAP FISH!! It was awesome watching him as he was excited pulling in this 3.00lb Fish!
I switched to a ALEX SPECIAL (except it was a 1/4 ounce) pumpkin jig with pumkin trailer. I was slowly dragin' it---when BAM I got hit 5' out from shore...I set the hook and broke the line:( I then raided Catifish's (Jeff) tackle box and found another pumpkin colored jig and trailer. I moved to THE WIND BLOWN side of the pond and started draging it again slowly, while stopping everytime I hit a rock, and hopping it over. Then I got picked up...and WACK...that fish was like 3.0lbs! It also only had one eye. Didn't fight real hard though:)
After that....I got the itch! Catfish missed a Senko Fish....and We stayed until the winds were kickin' 22mph from the NE.
THANKS FOR THE OPPORTUNITY! Believe it or not....I learn from you Shore Guys from reading your posts.....I would have never thrown that combination if I had not read it at Fish The Nation----thanks---keep the positive information comin'! You don't need to SHARE you exact baits....but please keep the sharing of information comin':fishing:
