1/3/2009 Cloudy and air temps around 25 to 30 deg. ESE wind. Less than an hour of insane action. Jumbo perch biggest is 14". My buddy caught them on a glow white jig. I caught em using an orange chubby darter tipped with cooked baby shrimp. I hooked into something huge for 3 minutes but came unbuttoned.

Be careful with the ice up there. It was breaking up while we were on it. there is a pipe that goes under the rip rap that the perch were relating to. The current was heavy under there.

Nice Perchies BBL. Must have been a great time. That ice with that pipe running underneath there makes me too nervous to venture out. Good Job!!

I was fishing in 18 ft of water. My buddy Pat gets all the credit. He brought me to a spot that was 5 ft from open water. I killed them on a Chubby Darter. I can't wait to use that thing in open water. It's gonna be a killer. My buddy was using a small white jig that got swept away with the current constantly until he put a split shot on his line. The chubby darter didn't have any problems. I changed the rear hook to a #12 treble. They were all biting the tail hook. I think the bait falls different with the lighter hook. Made a huge difference.

I haven't seen so many quality Perch since the days when I used to go to Montrose HArbor with my dad....25 years ago! what's the limit per guy/gal now?....25?
